bring back Greatareaswarnie nonsense. Not because it's seemingly a desperate strawclutch from a nation reeling at a Pommie victory, but because everyone knows Perth is a spinner's graveyard (well as far as any wicket could be for the peroxide wizard). Bouncier than a jellified Irish cheque and truer than Christian Slater's love for Patricia Arquette, the consensus seems to be that it's a seamer's paradise.
But, but, but is it though, eh? A quick squizz at Statsguru suggests that this isn't the case. Though there's a couple of horrors for tweakers in there, the overall record of spinners in the last ten years in Western Australia isn't too shoddy. So perhaps Hildich and co could do worse - and they have already shown they probably could - than get Ferntree Gully's finest back in the fold. Warne is a fan of Jason Krejza, but those stats suggest he won't be the man to salve the Aussie wounds at Waca. The record for spinners and quicks over this period can be found here (with thanks to The Guardian's Blog honcho, @Busfield...)
